Terms of Service

These are the ground rules for everyone using Your Wished Guide — travelers, guides, and our team. We've tried to keep them clear and fair. If anything is unclear, reach out and we'll explain.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or booking a tour through Your Wished Guide, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. What We Do

Your Wished Guide is an online marketplace that connects travelers with independent, verified local guides in Japan. We facilitate discovery, bookings, and in-app communication. We are not the tour operator — each guide is an independent professional responsible for the services they deliver.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to book a tour, or be accompanied by a legal guardian. Guides must hold a valid JNTO license and pass our verification process before going live.

4. Bookings & Payments

When you submit a booking request, the guide has 48 hours to accept or decline. Once accepted, payment is processed via Stripe. We charge a 9% platform fee on each booking (5% for Elite-tier guides). Your booking is confirmed only after successful payment. Guides receive their payout after the tour is completed.

5. Cancellation Policy

Travelers can cancel up to 7 days before the tour date for a full refund, up to 3 days before for a 50% refund, and within 72 hours for no refund (except for emergencies). Guides who cancel less than 48 hours before a confirmed tour will be subject to platform penalties and may be removed from the platform for repeat offenses.

6. Featured Guide Boost

Guides may purchase a paid "featured" placement that promotes their profile on the home page and at the top of search results for a fixed duration (currently 30 days at $20 USD). Featured placements do not affect search algorithms beyond sort order. We reserve the right to remove featured status for policy violations without refund.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to (a) use the platform for any illegal activity, (b) harass or discriminate against other users, (c) post false information or fake reviews, (d) attempt to circumvent the platform for direct payments, or (e) scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with our systems.

8. Content & Reviews

Reviews must be honest, respectful, and based on actual experiences. We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate our content policy. By posting content (reviews, photos, messages), you grant us a non-exclusive license to display it on the platform.

9. Liability

Your Wished Guide acts as a marketplace facilitator. We are not liable for the conduct of guides or travelers, the accuracy of listings, or any loss, injury, or damage that occurs during a tour. Each guide carries their own professional liability insurance. For major concerns, contact our support team immediately.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard. Outstanding bookings and payments will be honored according to the cancellation policy.

11. Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced via email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Tokyo, unless you are an EU consumer, in which case EU consumer protection laws apply.
